Launch of the Munster Animation Cluster

The Munster Animation Cluster was launched at the 12th Dingle Animation Festival, one of Europe's premier animation festivals, in March 2024.

The festival brings together industry professionals, enthusiasts, and aspiring animators from around the globe to showcase Ireland as a centre of excellence for animation and celebrate the work of an increasing number of award-winning Irish animators.

The perfect place to meet a bunch of creative and technically skilled people to work on projects together. It was great meeting with talented artists and @ACE producers including people from The Walt Disney Company and Pixar, Jam Media Ltd, Animation Ireland, Brown Bag Films, Boulder Media, Studio Meala, Enterprise Ireland, Cartoon Saloon, 9 Story Media Group, National Talent Academies, Coimisiún na Meán, Monster Entertainment Ltd, Those Producer Girls, 2K, Aardman and Cultural & Creative Industries Skillnet.

There were some great (and late) chats and conversations with Rejean Bourdages, Sean McNally, Chrystel Poncet, Eileen Bell, Paul Swift, Niall Mooney and Will Sliney . And many more with names sadly missed. 

The aim of the Munster Animation Cluster is to get the disparate people and companies to meet, cooperate and take on projects together to provide a united front to make Munster an active force in the animation scene. And animation itself is a broad church including Visual Special Effects and Computer Games as well as the more traditionally included hand-drawn and computer assisted two dimension animation, CGI three dimension animation as physical stop-motion animation. And the area is expanding to Virtual Reality, Extended Reality and Augmented Reality. Not to mention character and creature design, key art, #modeling, rigging, Look Dev, motion and performance capture, direction, production, crowd simulation, #compositing, #storyboarding, pre-visuals, scanning, #motiongrapgics as well as lighting and #rendering . It's a growing area.

AnamoLABS, as active members, I believe that the MAC - Munster Animation Cluster members will create many wonderful things together.
