Motion Capture and Performance Capture are the same thing, but with the focus pointed in different directions.
AnamoLABS moves in two directions, using motion capture systems for Life Sciences and Creative Technologies. We drive health & wellbeing through a focus on movement and personal mobility and analysis in MedTECH and SportsTECH. We drive creative flow through explorations in GameTECH and Animation.
The analysis of how your body moves permits the optimisation of movement for sports, indicating where fatigue and potential injury is most likely to occur in order to introduce preventive measures. Of analysing where the injury is and how the treatment is progressing. Also if the source of the injury is not the source of the pain (sometimes the root of a neck pain is coming from the hips), a full body motion capture is able to detect imbalances in areas that are not the main focus of observation.
But sometimes, analysis of the movement is not the point. Sometimes the movement is the point.
The same equipment for motion capture also performs the emotion capture of a performance. Be it the dance of joy, of a shamble of a zombie, the same systems record the movement to be applied for entertainment and creativity.
At AnamoLABS, we want to capture the essence of your movement to help you live better, and to make life worth living.
Special thanks to everyone in the photo; Joe Burke and Marion Guiry of Local Enterprise Office South Cork, Michael Ledwith of Get Visual, Stephen O'Connell of Looks Loud, Will Knott from AnamoLABS, Gerald O Brien of CyberTwin, John Fitzgerald of AnamoLABS, Jessica Mackey; Special Effects artist and 3D modeler, Eileen Bell of Enterprise Ireland, Eimear, Gareth Lee of Cultural & Creative Industries Skillnet and Jonathan Loughran of Pioneertown Productions.
The Munster Animation Cluster was launched at the 12th Dingle Animation Festival, one of Europe's premier animation festivals, in March 2024.
The festival brings together industry professionals, enthusiasts, and aspiring animators from around the globe to showcase Ireland as a centre of excellence for animation and celebrate the work of an increasing number of award-winning Irish animators.
The perfect place to meet a bunch of creative and technically skilled people to work on projects together. It was great meeting with talented artists and @ACE producers including people from The Walt Disney Company and Pixar, Jam Media Ltd, Animation Ireland, Brown Bag Films, Boulder Media, Studio Meala, Enterprise Ireland, Cartoon Saloon, 9 Story Media Group, National Talent Academies, Coimisiún na Meán, Monster Entertainment Ltd, Those Producer Girls, 2K, Aardman and Cultural & Creative Industries Skillnet.
There were some great (and late) chats and conversations with Rejean Bourdages, Sean McNally, Chrystel Poncet, Eileen Bell, Paul Swift, Niall Mooney and Will Sliney . And many more with names sadly missed.
The aim of the Munster Animation Cluster is to get the disparate people and companies to meet, cooperate and take on projects together to provide a united front to make Munster an active force in the animation scene. And animation itself is a broad church including Visual Special Effects and Computer Games as well as the more traditionally included hand-drawn and computer assisted two dimension animation, CGI three dimension animation as physical stop-motion animation. And the area is expanding to Virtual Reality, Extended Reality and Augmented Reality. Not to mention character and creature design, key art, #modeling, rigging, Look Dev, motion and performance capture, direction, production, crowd simulation, #compositing, #storyboarding, pre-visuals, scanning, #motiongrapgics as well as lighting and #rendering . It's a growing area.
AnamoLABS, as active members, I believe that the MAC - Munster Animation Cluster members will create many wonderful things together.

Digital Health Solutions refers to the use of information and communications technologies in medicine and other health professions to manage illnesses and health risks and to promote wellness.
With the rise of telemedicine and remote patient monitoring, marker-less motion capture systems can provide a convenient and cost effective way for healthcare professionals to monitor patients' movements and progress from a distance.
In addition to its diagnostic and monitoring capabilities, marker-less motion capture technology can also be used in rehabilitation settings. For example, the technology can be used to track and analyze a patient's movements during rehabilitation and physical therapy sessions, providing valuable feedback to the therapist and helping the patient to recover more quickly and effectively.

The name Imbolg seems to come from the term "in the belly".
The idea is that as the weather is supposed to get warmer (looks outside and shouts "supposed"), the rams get frisky and most of the sheep will be on the way to getting lambs soon.
This might be why St Brigid's Day is a traditional seed planting day. And once again CyberTwin used the using The Captury Live system here at AnamoLAB - Cork facility to create the motion capture for the Muckross House Research Library seasonal update animation.
The festivals of Imbolg and Saint Brigid's Day are technically different days. Imbolg (sometimes Imbolc) is the midpoint between the winter solstice and the spring equinox in the Northern Hemisphere. That means that it can move from February 1st to February 2nd, while the festival of St. Brigid is always February 1st.
Speaking of a good time to plant seeds, tonight will be the first meetup of the Munster Animation Cluster. There will be a lot of "getting to know" and "finally in the flesh" type conversations. It's one more seed that might grow into something really big.
"Everybody Move" is a phrase that emphasizes the importance of physical activity and exercise for all individuals, regardless of age, ability, or fitness level. It promotes the idea that everyone can benefit from regular movement and exercise to improve their overall health and well-being. See: >>> here
